Israeli Regime Breaches Truce Again As Gaza Endures Attacks, Aid Denial – World news
Medical sources at al-Ahli Hospital told Al Jazeera that Israeli forces killed one Palestinian in the Tuffah neighborhood of Gaza City.
The attack adds to dozens of casualties inflicted by the Israeli regime since the ceasefire took effect on October 10.
Residents in Gaza say the ceasefire has brought no real relief, with continued bombardments and restrictions on aid crippling daily life.
Academic Muhanad Seloom said the credibility of the United States is “on the line” as the Israeli regime appears to test the limits of the truce with Hamas.
“The US has sent a top official, Vice President JD Vance, to Israel to make sure this ceasefire holds, because they know that Netanyahu has now got all the living captives, some of the bodies of those killed and that he might walk away from the agreement,” Seloom told Al Jazeera.
According to Gaza’s Government Media Office, at least 80 ceasefire violations by the Israeli regime have been documented since October 10.
Seloom noted that countries including Qatar and Turkey, which helped broker the truce, are pressing for its full implementation.
“Turkiye … is a major player in the region. It’s a member of NATO, and I think the Turkish government is very keen on making sure that this agreement is being implemented,” he said.
Meanwhile, the UN agency for Palestinian refugees (UNRWA) warned that humanitarian aid entering Gaza remains “a drop in the ocean of what’s urgently needed.”
“All crossings need to open. Aid needs to be unrestricted,” UNRWA said on X, adding that around 6,000 trucks of vital supplies are waiting in Jordan and Egypt for clearance to enter Gaza.
Roland Friedrich, UNRWA’s director of affairs in the occupied West Bank, warned that settler violence and Israeli settlement expansion are intensifying amid the Gaza ceasefire.
“A drawdown in Gaza should not become an opportunity to tighten the grip of occupation elsewhere,” Friedrich said, emphasizing that “the future of Gaza and the West Bank are one.”
He added that “as fragile hope now emerges in Gaza, UNRWA stands ready to work with all parties to ensure a comprehensive outcome that can form the cornerstone of peace and stability for the entirety of the occupied Palestinian territory, and for the region, for generations to come.”
