Iran’s Foreign Minister Meets Chinese Leader in Beijing – Politics news
The Iranian foreign minister has traveled to China to participate in a meeting of the Council of the Ministers of Foreign Affairs of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization.
Araqchi and his foreign counterparts met with Chinese President Xi Jinping in Beijing on Tuesday morning.
Speaking to reporters upon his arrival in China, Araqchi said the SCO’s position is moving beyond a regional organization and being elevated in the global arena that deals with various issues in the political, economic and security spheres.
He said the forthcoming ministerial meeting will discuss a strategy for the promotion of SCO in the energy and trade sectors and also talk about the latest international developments.
Araqchi noted that he will hold talks with his Chinese and Russian counterparts as well as the other officials of the SCO member states on the sidelines of the event.
Pointing to the recent Israeli and US attacks on Iran and its nuclear facilities, the foreign minister said nearly all international and regional organizations and over 120 countries condemned the acts of aggression and expressed solidarity with Iran.
The meeting of the Council of Foreign Ministers of SCO will be held in Tianjin on July 15.
The participants in the meeting are expected to exchange views on SCO cooperation in various fields and major international and regional issues and make the necessary arrangements for an SCO summit.
