Iran: We Have Many Capabilities Yet to Be Unveiled

According to Khabaronline, an Iranian news agency, Rear Admiral Shahram Irani, commander of the Army Navy, said in an interview that during the so-called “12-day imposed war,” the navy was operating at the highest level of readiness. However, he noted that operational conditions did not allow for the direct deployment of all available capabilities at that time.

According to Irani, throughout the brief conflict the navy remained continuously engaged in securing maritime lines of communication, Iran’s maritime borders, and routes linked to international trade. He said this sustained presence prevented any disruption to maritime exchanges and shipping activities.

The navy commander emphasized that the experience of the conflict yielded important lessons for Iran’s armed forces. He explained that subsequent efforts have focused on raising overall readiness, expanding specialized training, and equipping units with advanced systems and modern technologies. Irani added that surveillance, monitoring, and early-warning systems have also been upgraded to enable faster and more effective responses to potential threats.

Referring to the strategic nature of naval forces, he said the navy must be prepared at all times to deliver a “rapid, precise, and decisive” response—an approach he described as a core element of Iran’s defensive deterrence policy.

Addressing questions about why certain equipment and capabilities have not been revealed, Rear Admiral Irani said the Iranian navy possesses numerous assets that remain undisclosed due to broader security considerations and overarching military policies. He argued that maintaining such ambiguity helps disrupt adversaries’ assessments and introduces uncertainty into their strategic calculations.

In closing, the navy commander said preserving these hidden capabilities ensures that adversaries remain “in a constant state of doubt and vulnerability,” stressing that all such capacities are employed within Iran’s defensive doctrine and in service of national security and the country’s strategic interests.
