Iran Offers Condolences to Russia Over Deadly Plane Crash – Politics news
President Masoud Pezeshkian expressed sympathy with the Russian nation and the families of victims in a message on behalf of the Iranian people and government, following the crash of a passenger aircraft in Russia’s Amur region.
He stated that the incident, which led to the death of all 49 people on board, was deeply saddening, and extended his condolences to the Russian people, especially the victims’ families.
Pezeshkian also prayed for patience for the bereaved and forgiveness and peace for the deceased.
Foreign Ministry Spokesman Esmail Baqaei also offered condolences to the families of the victims, expressing sorrow and solidarity with the Russian people and government.
According to Russian officials, all 49 passengers and crew members aboard the Antonov An-24 aircraft were killed after the plane crashed in eastern Russia.
The aircraft belonged to the Siberian airline Angara and was flying from Blagoveshchensk, the capital of Amur province on the Chinese border, to the city of Tynda when it went missing.
Amur region governor confirmed the crash on Thursday in a statement, announcing that all 49 individuals on board had died.
Earlier, Kazem Jalali, Iran’s Ambassador to Moscow, also offered condolences in a message on X following the tragedy.
He said the deadly crash of the Antonov An-24, which resulted in the deaths of 43 passengers and six crew members in the Amur region, had caused deep sorrow for himself and his colleagues at the Iranian embassy in Russia.
Jalali extended sympathies to the families of the victims and the Russian people, praying for divine mercy upon the deceased.
