Iran, China Discuss Closer Strategic Partnership – Politics news
In a telephone conversation on Wednesday, Araqchi and Wang Yi discussed the latest developments in bilateral relations, as well as the regional and international issues.
Araqchi expressed appreciation for China’s principled and responsible stance in declaring the snapback process at the UN Security Council illegal.
He noted that the constructive cooperation among Iran, China and Russia in countering the unilateralism of the US and certain Western governments at the UN had been significant and was supported by 121 members of the Non-Aligned Movement.
Denouncing the Zionist regime’s continued provocative actions in West Asia, Araqchi said the international community must resist the regime’s warmongering and hegemonic policies and act to prevent further escalation of tensions in the region.
For his part, Wang Yi emphasized the strategic nature of Tehran–Beijing relations and the need for maintaining coordination and regular contact between the two nations at the United Nations and other multilateral platforms.
He also praised Iran’s peaceful nuclear approach, reaffirming Tehran’s nuclear rights as a member of the Treaty on the Non-Proliferation of Nuclear Weapons (NPT).
The two ministers further referred to the constructive meeting between the presidents of Iran and China in September and the upcoming high-level session, underscoring the commitment of the two countries to advance the understandings reached under the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership framework.
They also expressed hope that these agreements would soon be implemented through practical mechanisms.
In conclusion, Araqchi and Wang Yi agreed to maintain close diplomatic contacts and to work jointly to expand bilateral cooperation in the coming year, which marks the 55th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Iran and China.
